Available As:

Island Mama/ SOLD/ 30x20 Original collage/ matted in teal in faux leather dark brown frame by Micheals Framing

Hula Girl/ $2,000/25x13 Original collage/ matted in shimmer rose gold with dark brown frame by Michaels Framing

Fancy Ladies

Finished in 2014 the artist was watching the Victoria Secret Fashion show and was inspired by the fancy outfits when she created both Hula Girls in her collection. This Blue Lady is wearing a fashionable blue swimsuit top created by twisting blue tissue into coils and layering them atop each other. The sheer skirt is done with this same tissue paper, glued in a way to be able to still see her skin color underneath.

Every Fancy Lady in her collection is made out of tiny pieces of recycled magazines and used catalogs. The skin color and hair texture is created by cutting up old advertisements of different models. This effect was done to create an element of this being essentially any woman. Magazines used vary and some examples include People, Sports Illustrated, Martha Stewart, Home and Garden, Essence and Vouge.

Currently, completed originals are scanned by Terry at Artist's Resource Group in NE Minneapolis, where his ever-improving technology has paved the way for textured reproductions. However, the reproductions for this Fancy Lady were done by Mike Wolfgang with CGS Technologies, based out of Minneapolis. The dimension in this 12x18 reproduction is still apparent, but not quite as much so as other reproductions available. Satisfaction guaranteed.
