As a child Emily spent half her family vacations at some sort of Disney park, and the other half at Bluefin Bay on the North Shore, near Lutsen Mountain. Emily and her family would spend hours jumping from flat rock to flat rock and watching the waves roll in. This piece was made in 2014 to commemorate those times.
While hanging at shows Emily often asks viewers if they can find some of the hidden details- such as a rabbit in the rocks, some seagulls and fish in the waves. The water on this original is created out of rolled tissue paper and the rocks are collaged from various magazines, images and recycled books.
Completed originals are scanned by Terry at Artist's Resource Group in NE Minneapolis, where his ever-improving technology has paved the way for textured reproductions. Currently EmLavArt's work is available as an original, flat canvas reproductions on gallery wrapped hand-cut bars, or limited-edition archival reproductions.
