Minnehaha Falls

This iconic location found on the edge of Minneapolis and St. Paul MN was the first original completed with her home state in mind. Emily completed this original in 2015 over approximately 200 hours. There were many elements that were eventually covered up in this one- including a large ship in the water- which can barely be seen at all anymore.

This original utilized tissue paper more than any others had- as you can see in the bushes on the left-hand side. These bursts of tissue paper were affixed utilizing the same method children use when making springtime flowers- by using a pencil and dabbing the tissue paper covered eraser in glue. Much of the water is also made out of strips of cut tissue paper.

This original is one of the most dimensional collages, and is framed in a 1.5 inch black frame that lifts off the original substantially to allow for the rocks and balled paper bags that make the shoreline. This view of Minnehaha Falls is recognizable to those familiar with the area- with the bridge above the falls crossing between two lush areas. String was added to these bushes in the background to add dimension and the sky is made of clips of sunset from donated books and magazines.

Completed originals are scanned by Terry at Artist's Resource Group in NE Minneapolis, where his ever-improving technology has paved the way for textured reproductions. This original is available on white, low-gloss metal ready to hang at 20x20 or as a limited edition 14x14 reproduction archival paper with a one-inch white border. Both reproductions give a crisp, clear, and textured-looking image that portrays the details extremely well. The original collage is also available, framed in black with a dark-green 2 inch matte.
