Illustration I and II are the two art classes Emily was enrolled in during her tenure at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While illustration- mainly Disney animation illustration- was always close to the Emily's heart, the process of erasing and using white-out was always a frustrating challenge. These days this problem is avoided by using computer programs and software to quickly clear mistakes, but unfortunately digital artwork is not what Emily is good at, probably due to lack of formal education in this area.
Below, you'll see that each original begins with a hand-drawn illustration- either a depiction of a photograph or poster, or a completely imaginative scene. She never quite lost this love of outlines- but now these initial drawings are "colored in" by using hundreds of tiny pieces of paper.
