A Coastline View (Beachbabe)

This collage was originally started because of an advertisement the artist had framed in her apartment for years. The colors and composition of the ad were always very inspiring, so this collage was started in 2015 but not finished until 2018. Publicly titled Coastline View, this original will always be ‘Beachbabe’ and took over 300 hours to complete from start to finish.

She stands on a pier looking out onto the sea, shielding the sun for a better view. Her brown hair went through a few color changes and is cut from different photos of hair, while her skin is composed of a variety of skin colors from models in a range of magazines. She’s rocking an upper arm tattoo and a white tank top which was layered on much later in the process.

Her bike is made from a variety of red papers and the wheels are cut partially from a glittery black. The spokes of the bike are straightened paperclips and if you look closely you can see the hubs of the her bike are actually made from wheels cut off a racecar sticker.

In the sea behind her are many hidden details, including some flamingos and a swimmer in a thong swimsuit. The coastline also has some hidden features- such as a pair of holding hands and diners at a restaurant on either side of her. Each detail is crisp and clear in the available reproductions, as this original was scanned and printed using top-of-the-line scanners at Artist’s Resource Group in Northeast Minneapolis.
