1933 Chicago World’s Fair: A Century of Progress
Completed in 2015 this piece is the first in a planned series of vintage posters from World’s Fair’s of the past. The 1933 Chicago World’s Fair was the second World’s Fair in Chicago and this original is based off the poster promoting the fair. The base image of this collage was a hand-drawn representation of the poster, then added layers of paper create the colors and energy of this collage. Each detail in this original is created by cutting individual pieces of paper- including the writing on the bottom of the poster with the original ticket prices!
Reproductions are available in limited quantities as either 12x18 paper prints. Completed originals are scanned by Terry at Artist's Resource Group in NE Minneapolis, where his ever-improving technology has paved the way for textured reproductions and immense detail perception. This print is brightly colored and portrays the texture in the original collage almost exactly.
Original was purchased in 2018 by a private collector in Ann Arbor, MI.
