The Delano Hotel

Completed in 2015 right before an art show staged in her apartment, this Delano original took much longer than any other original before. From start to finish, this original took almost 300 hours, and really was never finished. Originally there was going to be a nameplate for the hotel on the lower left corner, but when the piece had to get to the framers it was never assembled in time. A circus scene from an old Madeleine book holds its place forever now.

As well and hundreds of pieces of paper and many laters, this work incorporates string and cord much more than any previous original had- mostly to help with the straight lines- as well as add the texture to the front of this art-deco hotel. The palm trees that line the street are made from hand-cut pieces of paper and assembled by hand. The furthest back palm tree is a true sticker, included to demonstrate the different between the artist-made palms, and the manufactured one. A few fun stickers also adorn the front of the hotel, and a small string of pearls pulled from a gingerbread house was added to the facade last minute.

The Delano original was sold in 2017 to a collector in Minnesota, but a limited number of archival reproductions are still available.
